Adoptable Dogs

You can find a more complete listing of each of these pets at http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/FL595.html

If you are interested in adopting or fostering any of our animals, please fill out the appropriate form. It's OK to return it by email info@gratefulpaws.org or fax to (866) 600-5945.

All of our dogs are fully vetted, vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and micro-chipped.  We fix whatever ails them, that is why there are varying fees with the adoptions, some dogs come to us in very good shape, some have not been so lucky.

We ask everyone to complete one of our applications to adopt (or foster).  This helps us determine whether our pet would be a match  for your family and lifestyle/or working hours.

The application helps us determine the BEST home for this pet.  It doesn’t make a difference who applies first or who has the bigger home or yard, the decision is made based on who we believe will be the BEST home for this dog.

Please understand, we are a foster-home organization, so when we adopt a dog/cat – we immediately place another in the foster home that was just vacated.  We want to be sure to place our pets “well” the first time around.

Depending on all our schedules, the adoption process could take only one day -- or a couple.  But we will get back to you as soon as we can.

And thanks for “thinking RESCUE”!

Hi, My Name is Annie.  I am a 2 year old Shih Tzu.  I was found as a stray.  I love other dogs and I'm very well behaved when I am left alone.  I may prefer men over women, but Grateful Paws believes I need more socialization skills, as I get a little agitated and sometimes I get nippy when lots of people are standing over me and poking fingers at me.  They tell me this is not a traditional Shih Tzu trait, so it might just be the environment.  But trust me when I tell you I am a sweetie pie and I just want to find my forever home.

Hello, My name is Mike.  I am a German Shepherd mix that has been through a lot but have proved to be one in a million.  Luckily a Grateful Paws volunteer happened to be driving by as I was limping along a very busy road.  When I was found, my neck was raw from a tight chain or rope while probably being relegated outside.  I was probably hit by a car as I had a broken hip and wounded leg all while having a mean case of Heartworm.  Thankfully Jan and Grateful Paws took me in and fixed me up.  With the help of a few volunteer foster parents, a capable vet and some loving attention I have continued to amaze all that I have come across.  I am recovering well from my surgery, and am now a happy, sweet and gentle companion believed to be around 1 year old.  I am potty trained and will fetch a ball if that makes you feel better, but you will probably find me right by your side as you go about your business.  A home without children would be best.  I am ready for adoption into a permanent home as I epitomize what Grateful Paws can do - like them, I am small but mighty.  Once you meet me, you too will be thankful for Grateful Paws.

Hi!  My name is Mindy.  I am a boxer mix, who is about one year old, and fully grown at around 40lbs.  I was picked up as a stray.  I had a hematoma removed from my ear, but that is all healed up now.  I am a spayed, healthy girl and I am looking for my forever home.  I have a delightful personality, am happy and friendly and FULL of energy.  I get along well with most other dogs, but I could sure use a dog savvy owner, as sometimes I can get very excited and try to be the boss.  Hey I’m still a kid you know?  I would love to meet you.  Come and see me!

Hi, My name is Hannah.  ***FOSTER HOME NEEDED****

I’ve had a rough start in life.  I was rescued from a crack house, my previous owners went to jail, and I did too (sort of).  To keep me from going to the pound, my rescuer took me to the Vet to be checked out – and for lack of a foster home, I was boarded at a local animal hospital for more than two months!  Fortunately Grateful Paws was able to find me a short term foster home to get me out of the pokey (aka kennel environment), but it is only short term.  I desperately want a new Forever Home, but I am also in need of a foster home until my new family comes to adopt me.

I am a one year old (approx) American Bulldog, fully grown and weigh about 60 lbs.  I am housetrained.  I am a big puppy and love to climb in your lap and give slobbery kisses.  I am currently enrolled in training classes at a local Petsmart, to round out some of my rough edges.  I love playing with my foster brother (a big white boxer) and I love kids, including young squealing ones!  I love MOST other dogs, but the introduction needs to be gradual, as I do not like dogs who try to be dominant over me.  I draw the line with cats however and need a house without cats.  I hope you will call about me.

Hello, My name is Timon (or Timmy).  I got my name because they say I look like the Meerkat from the Lion King.  I was picked up as a stray.  I tested positive for heartworm and am receiving treatment.  Heartworm is treatable and I should be just fine.  I am a one year old (approx) Chihuahua and weigh 6.5 pounds.  I have a great temperament, and I get along well with other dogs and cats, and I love people in general.  I am super cute, if I do say so myself, and I am house trained.  I sure hope you will come see about me!

Hi, My name is Bandit.  I am a 6 year old Chihuahua, I weigh 8 lbs, and I am looking for my new forever home.  I am sweet as can be, a total snuggle bunny, I love to be held and I love other dogs and people.  I’m healthy, neutered and up to date on all my vaccines.  My previous owner had some serious health issues that resulted in them no longer being able to care for me.  Thankfully they found Grateful Paws, who was able to find me a foster home until they can find me my new forever home.  I sure hope you will ask about me.

Hi, My name is Pepe.  I am a 7 year old Chihuahua, I weigh 10 lbs, and I am looking for my new forever home.  I am sweet as can be, a total snuggle bunny, well that might be stretching the truth just a little bit.  Let me rephrase that.  I am as sweet as can be once I get to know you.  I do not take to well to strangers and I like to show my teeth and nip, but once I feel safe I am delightful.  I am a loyal and loving boy, albeit just a little fearful of new people.

Hello, my name is Miss Pia.  I am a 4 year old Chihuahua, who weighs 8 lbs.  My previous owner was no longer able to care for me, and thankfully Grateful Paws was able to take me in until they can find me a new forever home.  I have a warm loving personality.  I love people and other dogs.  I especially love to give kisses!  I am not totally house trained, but I am working on it with my foster parents.  I am a total snuggle bug and cutie pie.  I am spayed and up to date on all my vaccinations.  I hope to meet you soon!

Hi, I’m Buddy Lab.  I’m a Dalmatian-Labrador Retriever Mix.  I am about 1 ½ years old and weigh 55 lbs.  I came into Grateful Paws care when my previous owner had some hardships come up in her personal life and had to give me up.  Thankfully Grateful Paws was able to place me in a foster home.  I am a very shy guy.  It takes me a while to get comfortable around new people, not aggressive by any means.  Just timid.  I have a very cute, outgoing, foster dog sister who is trying to teach me to the ropes.  I am too shy to come out to the adoption events, but if you would like to meet me, we can arrange a nice quiet one on one visit.  I would love to meet you.  I am super sweet and one handsome fella if I do say so myself.

Hello, they call me Red.  I’m a seven year old Golden Retriever Mix.  I’m a guy who’s been around the block.  I am a perfect family pet and instant companion.  No training required.  Not something all those whippersnappers can say.  I’m very well behaved, well trained and a passive guy.  I love my human companions, I’m good with kids and ok with other dogs, but have not spent a lot of time with other dogs and cats.  I am a sensitive guy, who listens well, walks perfectly on a leash, and am house trained and am a very good boy when left alone.  I would really love to find my new forever family.  I have so much to give; I hope you will come see me.

Hi!  My name is George.  I am a 5 year old Labrador Retriever Mix, about 70lbs.  I am a happy friendly guy who is good with cats and most other dogs.  I am a little bit shy around new people (especially men), but once I get to know you I am fine.  I am smart as a whip, housebroken, and I can teach you some tricks!  I am ready to find my forever home, please come ask about George.

Hi!  My Name is Ella Rae.  I am a 7-8 year old Poodle Mix.  My previous owners left me behind in an abandoned house in Winter Haven.   I am a little darling, sweet temperament and I get along well with other dogs and cats.  My foster mom says I am no trouble at all and that I will make an excellent companion and friend.  I am housebroken, quiet, well behaved and ready to find my new forever home.  I hope to see you soon!

Yo!  My name is Vinnie.  I am around 1 1/2 years old Rhodesian Ridgeback Mix and I weigh 65 lbs.  I was picked up from the Everglades as a stray.  Although we have searched for my previous owner, they have not surfaced.  I am one handsome guy, and I love to give kisses, snuggle and “lean on you”.  I have a great temperament, and am gentle with food and treats and I’m learning to walk on a leash.  My foster mom says I’m a big goober “who just doesn’t recognize his own strength”, but I’m a gentle giant.  Aside from hating cats (they sleep with the fishes, if you get my meaning…) my worst habit is jumping on you when I meet you.  But I’m working on that one.  I am totally house and crate trained.  I would do best with an active owner, as I am fit and trim and would make a GREAT running partner, and I love to play ball.  But remember NO CATS.  If you can foster me, or are interested in meeting me, send an email to info@gratefulpaws.org

Hello!  My name is Luna.  I am a Yorkshire Terrier (Yorkie) Mix and am about 5 months old.  I am learning to go potty outside and am doing VERY WELL.  I am a sweet girl, and I love to play.  I think I am a big dog, I love playing with dogs of all sizes.  I am up to date on all my vaccines, spayed and micro-chipped.  I am hoping to meet my forever family really soon.

Hi! My Name is Bruno. I am a Labrador Retriever/Terrier Mix, who is fully grown at about 35 lbs. My previous owner dumped me in an affluent neighborhood in the hopes that someone would rescue me. It worked, because Grateful Paws stepped in and placed me in a foster home. I am a sweet, gentle tempered guy, and will make a great family dog. I get along with other dogs. I do not like going to the adoption events with too many people and dogs milling around and poking fingers at me, so if you would like to meet me please get in touch with Grateful Paws and they will set up an introduction. I am a healthy boy, up to date on all my vaccines, micro-chipped and neutered. I hope to meet you soon!

Hi! My Name is Tyger. I am an 8 month old Pit Bull Terrier Mix, who weighs 40 lbs. I am super sweet and get along great with other dogs. I am a real fast learner, and am learning all my basic commands. I am house trained and am just all over a great guy. I am neutered and I’m ready to find my new home. I hope to meet you soon!

Hello!  My Name is Tyson.  I am 18 months old and possibly a purebred Rottweiler.  I was rescued from a life as a “yard dog”.  My previous owner was convinced I would be better off in Grateful Paws’ care, so she surrendered me to them so that they could find me a new home.  I am well behaved, house trained and gentle with my foster siblings.  I live with several other dogs and get along very well with them all.  I am a big goofy puppy, and my foster dad is working with me on my basic commands.  I am a quick learner.  I am a big boy, so I need someone who can handle me.  I would do great with someone who has an active lifestyle.  Since I  was a yard dog, I see cats as something to chase, so a home without cats would be the best for me (and the cats).  I am healthy and looking for my forever home!
