Jan Milbyer is the founder and powerhouse behind Grateful Paws founded in 2006 - it goes without saying she is also both a foster parent and adoptive parent of rescued dogs and cats. Jan is our "leader of the pack" as she coordinates all activities while maintaining a family and full time career. Jan works tirelessly alongside all of the dedicated people to rescue and find loving homes for all the dogs and cats in her care - she is the first one to tell you Grateful Paws would not exist without the support of the volunteers, foster parents, adoptive parents, business sponsors, and VCA Hollywood Animal Hospital. Her reward is the successful adoption of rescued animals, but others have noticed her commitment and success as the American Business Women's Association, South Broward Chapter, named Jan its Leader of the Year in 2011. She was also named runner-up for the Non-Profit Volunteer of the Year 2011 by her employer, Waste Management. You can meet Jan at most events, speak with her most evenings and weekends, see her recruit volunteers, plan fundraisers, consult with vets, or picking up poop if necessary - she does it all - there are many dogs, cats and adoptive parents that owe her more than could ever be repaid.
